(1) Train
Zonal Leaders To Campaign For HIV/AIDS And Aged Programmes
The 2006 year saw the training of zonal leaders as volunteer. The aim
was to get then the skills to advocate on behalf of the Aged and PLWHA.
Twenty five (25) volunteers made up of 15 males and 10 females were
trained. Topics treated were:
- International Papers that Ghana is signatory to Laws, Policies,
Programme for
the Aged and PLWHA and institutional frame work to address these
issues
- Proposal and report writing
- Techniques in advocacy and fund raising
- Ethical issues for Aged and PLWHAs

Lessons Learnt
- The society is not abreast of Aged issues but knowledge
about HIV/AIDS is quite high
- Programme to address issues about the Aged are not many
- Government attention for the Aged is limited
- The Aged themselves need younger people to advocate their
issues
- The few NGO on programme for the Aged need to build networks
to seek information

Aged And PLWHA Visitation And Donation
During the year under review, visitations were embarked upon as
indicated in the table below.
Lessons Learnt
- The older people like to share ideas
- They were interested in people who want to share in their plight
- Some of them who are handicapped would like to attend such
meetings
- They prefer more focus group meetings to individuals visitations
- Lack of/and insufficient funds and resources hinder regular
meetings

- Resource mobilization effort must be embarked upon
Conclusion
This Aspect of the Aged Programme must be stepped up to give
comfort and relief to the Aged

Hold Advocacy Season For The Media In Kumasi
To seek support for the programme, the media were targeted
for this advocacy programme. They were briefed on the programme.
The target, purpose and scope in terms of time and location.
They had time to listen to some of the conventions, Laws,
Policies in PLWHA and Ageing issues.

Which Will Benefit The Aged
End Of Year Dinner Dance 2001
The organization held Aged Dinner Dance at Jachie one of our
communities on 23rd December, 2001. The function also used to
educate the Aged on health and sanitation. They were educated on
the things they must do and those they must not do now that they
are in their Old Age.
The program was attended by 230 Aged and other invited guests,
among them were health personnels the District Chief Executive
Bosomtwe kwanwoma District, Chief of various communities in our
area.
We also presented to the Aged some of their basic needs under
the function.
Finally, we all danced and dinned to bring the function to an
end.
The Kuntansi And Feast 200
An Aged Liberation feast was held on the 7th April, 2000 at
Kunatanasi in the Bosomtwe Atwima kwanwoma District.
The occasion was used to campaign against the negative
perception on the Aged in our societies in the country and
Africa as a whole. We were participates on witchcraft and human
rights abuse on the age. About 350 Aged attended the function
with invited guests. Snacks were served to all the attendants.
The Aged on the occasion danced to music interlude at the
function.
Presentations of spectacles and walking sticks we made to the
needy aged and the program came to an end.
