About Us Compassion Africa Aged Foundation – CAAF (NGO)
– is non religious, Non – Governmental, non-profit making organization
established in 2000 to promote the prospect of older persons and people
living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Ghana and Africa CAAF is established by
professionals who are well versed in the development of living
conditions of the retired/Aged, the poor and needy in communities across
the country.
Mission To see to the
welfare of the Aged and PLWHA in Ghana and Africa regardless of sex,
ethnics or colour. It is committed to work through out Ghana to ensure
that the civil and human rights are upheld and address to.
Objectives
The major objectives of the CAAF are:
- To educate the public to change their negative attitudes towards
the Aged and the PLWHA in all regions throughout Ghana and Africa (Spiritism)
- To educate the Aged and PLWHA on sanitation and health issues;
especially those living in the rural areas
- To educate the Aged to know their Human and Civil Rights in
society
- To ensure that the government policies on Aged is achieved and
educate them on such policies
- To educate families about how to handle the Aged
- To seek to the health needs by providing them with spectacles,
walking sticks, cloths
- To provide shelter in times disaster
- To provide recreations
- To designing and implement to promote awareness among Aged on
their responsibility for adequate care
- To ensure that the views of the Aged are uppermost
Organization Structure
CAAF works through three (3) structures. There are:
(a) The Members of Boards of Directors
(b) The Executive Council
(c) Zones
Their Functions
The Member of Board of Directors is the highest policy
making body of CAAF. It is responsible for the general control of
the organization
The second structure, Executive Council implement
policies, manage the general administration and takes part in the
daily activities of the CAAF as directed by the Members of Boards of
Directors.
The third function which is the zones have communities
under them. Zonal leaders and communities leaders have been elected
to organize activities for the Aged as directed by the Executive
Council. There are also volunteer, youths who provide services such
as visitations and also assisting the fragile Aged in their domestic
chores in their communities.
Affiliates
CAAF has affiliated organizations. We collaborate with some
private voluntary organization (PVOs) however; HELP AGED GHANA (NGO)
is CAAF’s major affiliate. Communication, through the net has been
restored to ease the communication with both local based and
international based organizations for support of the Aged and the
STDS (including HIV/AIDS) PLWHA.
